Everyone deserves self-care.
But when you're living a neurodivergent life? That care has to look different, because your life is different.
Hey there, I’m Karen Kossow…
If you’re here, chances are you’re carrying more than most people can see.
Many of us are part of the sandwich generation of neurodivergent parents.
We grew up undiagnosed (or misdiagnosed), often raised by parents who were also neurodivergent but never recognized or supported. That means we inherited coping skills that don’t always serve us, probably lived through trauma (big or small), and are now raising our own neurospicy kids while re-parenting ourselves.
Some of us are cut off from our families of origin.
Some are still managing those complicated ties.
All of us are navigating life with a nervous system that has been on high alert for years, while carrying the full-time job of finding support for our children in a world that wasn’t built for us.
And here’s the truth: life doesn’t look like we thought it would.
No elders are holding us up, and often there’s no soft place for us to land. We know self-care would help. We even tell ourselves it’s the key to being a better parent…but guilt, exhaustion, and overwhelm keep us from actually doing it.
This space is for you.
What This Space Is Not
You’ll find plenty of communities focused on parenting strategies and child development. This is not one of them.
Here, the focus is on you as a human being.
Your survival.
Your nervous system.
Your well-being.
Because when you’re cared for, resourced, and supported, everything else becomes lighter.
Why This Matters
Focusing on your own needs isn’t selfish. It’s necessary. It’s permission to stop holding your breath and finally exhale.
The Self-Care Support Squad is a space that mixes gentle encouragement with practical tools. It’s where we talk about what it means to be a neurodiverse (or not!) parent in the sandwich generation - messy history, present exhaustion, future hope - and create a rhythm of support you can actually sustain.
Whether you dip in for a Monday check-in, dive deeper with Growth Notes, or join us for group calls and Paperwork Parties, you belong here. Welcome to the Squad!
